How to Perfect a Smokey Eye
If you haven’t done a Smokey eye before, you’re probably already scared. I’f you have and you failed, you’re probably thinking, “this look is just not for me.” I am going to help you get over your Smokey fears and create a Smokey eye you can’t fail at. Follow the steps below:
STEP 1: Use a nude shade (or translucent powder/face setting powder) to coat your entire lid with a fluffy brush.
STEP 2: Use a transitional shade like a taupe (or you can use your bronzer) with a fluffy brush and add to your crease.
STEP 3: Take a black kohl pencil and line your entire lid (work quickly so it doesn’t dry) and start blending until the crease; but do not blend too much higher than your crease.
STEP 4: Apply a matte black eyeshadow all over the lid where you’ve applied the pencil to lock it in place and mattify.
STEP 5: Use a brown shadow to blend out the black in the crease *this is most important - don’t use black!
Key: when creating a Smokey eye, no matter what you do, keep the dark shades away from your tearduct near the inner corner of your eye. This is what will give your the raccoon eye.
You can do this Smokey eye with any variation of colors. What’s most important is that you go from light to dark!
